Čikat Bay, a jewel of the Adriatic, is a breathtaking natural cove on Croatia’s Lošinj Island. Known for its crystal-clear waters and fragrant pine forests, it rivals Lake Garda or Como in charm. It is home to Croatia’s most exclusive villas, all managed by Lošinj Hotels & Villas.
Flying into Pula, I boarded a private Hawker Beechcraft King Air C90 for a 20-minute flight to Mali Lošinj, an exhilarating way to arrive, offering stunning views of Pula’s Roman amphitheatre and the untouched coastline. The island, spanning just 28 square miles, has long been renowned for its purifying air, thanks to botanist Ambroz Haračić, who planted 80,000 pine trees over a century ago, creating a haven for wellness seekers.
Villa Sea Princess Nika:
Croatia’s Most Luxurious Retreat

My first two nights were at Villa Sea Princess Nika, the most exclusive property in Croatia. Built in a classical style, its regal arched façade and elegant staircase overlook Čikat Bay. The villa boasts seven opulent suites across three floors, a private spa, wine cellar, and inviting outdoor terraces with a jacuzzi.
Inside, Italian marble floors, Murano glass chandeliers, and art-deco lamps create an atmosphere akin to a private museum of master craftsmanship. Each suite is uniquely decorated, featuring king-size beds, bay windows, and en-suite bathrooms. Guests enjoy a private cinema, a state-of-the-art gym, and spa treatments included in their stay.

Dining at Villa Sea Princess Nika set an unparalleled standard. William, our impeccably dressed concierge, exuded a Bond-like elegance. The service was impeccable, with synchronised plate placements and seamless wine pairings. The seafood risotto, macarons, and caramel fudge were exquisite, while the fruit juice cocktails were refreshing elixirs. The chef and his team were rightly lauded for their culinary artistry, presented with the precision of ballet dancers.

The next morning, an à la carte breakfast on the terrace featured salmon, artisanal hams, fresh fruit, and made-to-order omelettes, complemented by vibrant juices like beetroot and grapefruit. The scene was mesmerising, with the bay’s still waters reflecting the grandeur of Boutique Hotel Alhambra & Villa Augusta, Captain’s Villa Rouge, and Hotel Bellevue.
